If a pebble falls on the beach, and no one is around to hear it . . .
Lake Superior Pebble Beach is pretty much exactly as it sounds. Walk along the shore of Lake Superior, but the shoreline is entirely pebbles. It’s a great view!
Where is it?
You can get to Pebble beach by heading 12 miles northeast of Grand Marais on highway 61. There are several places you can get down to the beach here starting just past the Kadunce River Wayside.
Hiking Pebble Beach
The “trail” runs about 3 miles along the beach roundtrip. You can walk on the beach or back in the woods this follows the Superior Hiking Trail.
This is a great place for photo ops, spending time on a sunny afternoon, reading a book or having a picnic.
Interesting info
The pebbles were left here after ancient glaciers receded filling up the great lakes.
You should know
This is one of the easiest hikes along the north shore. If you’re trip brings you this far north, it’s a must see.
