If travel by foot isn’t your thing, North Shore biking is going to delight you.
Whether you’re a road biker or a mountain biker there is plenty to see when you’re wheeling your way through Minnesota’s north shore. The biggest draw for those on two wheels is the, in process of being built, Gitchi-Gami State Trail.
The Gitchi-Gami State Trail
When finished, the Gitchi- Gami will make north shore biking even more accessible. The trail will run 88 miles between Two Harbors and Grand Marais. The paved trail is non motorized and can be used by more than just bikers, however those wishing to see the north shore from the seat of a bike will get a particularly nice experience.
Beyond the Gitchi-Gami
While the Gitchi-Gami is great, there are additional options for bikers along the north shore. Wide shoulders on portions of Highway 61 and paved state and county roads throughout the area make the North Shore of Lake Superior a great cycling destination.
