Located about 80 miles (128km) northeast of Duluth, Temperance River State Park is one of eight state parks that make up Minnesota’s North Shore experience along Lake Superior.

Temperance River is a fast moving waterway creating potholes and beautiful waterfalls along the way.
Other interesting facts
The name Temperance River came from early settlers who stumbled upon a river so deep and so rapid that no sand “bars” ever formed. Therefore they named the river Temperance.
About the park
The park is home to multiple falls and rapids. Recently, the park added Carlton peak, a favorite among rock climbers.
