Camping in National Forest
To the west of highway 61 is the great Superior National Forest. From Duluth to Eveleth you can travel through the forest on the Superior National Forest Scenic Byway, to the north and west, you can venture to Ely, MN and further north you head into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.
The forest provides ample places for camping and as national forest, it is all open to camping.
However, make sure you clean up after yourself. If you venture away from marked campgrounds, the national forest services provides these guidelines for dispersed camping.
